With a woodland theme, beautiful muted colour scheme, delicious menu and exceptional entertainment, the winter wedding of Keziah and Sam was a treat for all.
On the hunt for their dream wedding venue in West Sussex, Keziah and Sam fell in love with Bartholomew Barn as soon as they went to visit. Planning a November wedding, the huge open fire was an instant attraction.
“The barn was cosy and warm but big enough to accommodate everyone. We loved how it was essentially a blank canvas, giving us the freedom to build our day as we pleased.” - Keziah
The happy couple set a colour scheme of blues and greys, introducing white and green in the flowers. They decided to create a woodland theme, hiring drapes, a fairy light canopy and two chandeliers alongside large, illuminated ‘S&K’ letters.
“We wanted a relaxed feel and kept the colour scheme quite pale and muted. I made the table decorations myself which I absolutely loved.” – Keziah
The beautiful bride wore ‘Roberta’ by Maggie Sottero – the first dress she saw and tried on.
“It was perfect so we didn’t see the point in shopping any more. I love the backless detail and am just gutted I can’t wear it every day!” – Keziah Keziah accessorised with nude boots and pretty jewellery. Meanwhile, her four bridesmaids were also stunning, choosing dresses in light blue, dark blue, light grey and dark grey.
“They all have completely different colouring so I didn’t want to try and find one dress or colour that would look great on all of them.”
Finally, Sam looked the part in a blue tweed suit from Jennis & Warmann.
“He kept it hidden from me the whole time so I had to trust his judgement, but I absolutely loved it!” – Keziah
Following their religious ceremony at Holy Trinity Church in Cuckfield, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed ‘Mr & Mrs’ cocktails, Prosecco and canapés at Bartholomew Barn.
When it came to the wedding breakfast, a delicious Pieminster pie and mash was a great choice.
“We aren’t people who enjoy tiny portions and fine dining. Give us pub food and we are over the moon!” – Keziah
As day turned to evening, A Mexican street food van continued the fantastic menu theme alongside a wheel of cheese. Live band, The Skipjacks, filled the dance floor, playing ‘Wonderful Tonight’ by Eric Clapton for the first dance.
“We just swayed along and then our parents joined in. It was a lovely moment.” – Keziah
“Seeing how happy our parents were and watching everyone throwing themselves around the dance floor. Everyone has said to us that they had a great time which really is the best compliment!”
