Susie and Matt

Matt proposed to Susie on her birthday, while she was eating toast! It was a surprise!

The Venue

Susie and Matt wanted to celebrate their marriage in a barn and found Bartholomew Barn on Country House Wedding Venues website.

It was a beautiful, stunning location, surrounded by fields. The barn itself has very charming qualities and a gorgeous courtyard, perfect for the relaxed feel we were hoping for.

The Outfits

Susie's dress was an amazing Jenny Packham dress. It was a 1940's style with a halter neck and lots of sequins and jewells. She also wore small diamond earrings, two small silver bangles and shoes from Dune. The dress had all the glitz.

Susie's daughter Lily was the bridesmaid and she wore a sparkly dress from Monsoon. The Flowers & Decorations

Susie's bouquet was made of pink garden roses with herbs and Lily wore a fresh flower headband and held a pomander of roses. The table centrepieces were candles in terracota pots with herbs. Bartholomew Barn has so many flowers and is such a stunning location, that they didn't need to decorate much! They had lots of butterflies and some Chinese Double Happiness for weddings symbols.

Susie and Matt travelled to Bartholomew Barn in a beautiful 1940's Rolls Royce.

Favours & The Cake

For favours Susie and Matt put terracota bowls with butterfly detail on the tables filled with candy canes and sugared almonds. Susie and Matt didn't have a traditional wedding cake, but had 6 tiers of cupcakes, made by Susie's friend and neighbour. Each cupcake had a hand painted butterfly and was either chocolate, lemon or plain sponge.

When asked what was the best part of the day, Susie says

The actual service meant the most and the meal, just for immediate family. Guests arrived later in the evening for a barbecue. A very relaxed day!

We also asked Susie if there was anything she had learnt that she thought was an important tip for future wedding couples?

Relax and enjoy the organisation. I had post marital depression afterwards... what was I going to do in the evenings now! The big day does come around very quickly!
