Kim and Dan

Kim and Dan wanted a small, intimate wedding at a very special countryside wedding venue, worlds away from their busy London lifestyle.

Kim and Dan wanted a small, intimate wedding at a very special countryside wedding venue, worlds away from their busy London lifestyle.

The Venue

Kim and Dan were keen to find a romantic barn wedding venue within an hour’s drive of their home in South London. Bartholomew Barn was just one of the venues the pair decided to visit.

It was pouring with rain when we visited and we still loved every bit of the Barn. It ticked all the boxes.

The couple fell in love with the Barn’s courtyard; a place they knew would be perfect for their wedding photos. They also loved the fact that they had the freedom to source their own suppliers, meaning they could plan their day their way.

The Outfits

Kim wore a pretty A-line dress, covered in lace and sparkles, from the Romance range by Allure. “I didn’t want to take it off,” smiles Kim. Her flower girl wore a white dress too, which Kim had decorated with lace flowers.

Dan opted for traditional attire in black tails with a grey waistcoat. His accessories, which included a cravat and pocket square, were pink to match the four bridesmaids’ dresses.

The Décor and Flowers

Flowers were key to creating the romantic look that Kim and Dan were after. Their florist created two beautiful pew ends, which were the focal point during the ceremony, while the chairs were decorated with dainty baby’s breath bouquets.

The reception décor was equally pretty and featured birdcage centrepieces and candles. The couple used photos, rather than table names, to identify each of their wedding tables. Each photo they used was from a holiday they’d been on together.

Kim also got involved in the creative side of things and made her own table plan using a chalk board and tags, which hung from twine.

The Transport

Kim arrived at the venue with her mum, who drove her there in a brand new white car. The journey was especially important to Kim, who thought that her mum may not be able to drive her to the venue following an accident she’d had just a few weeks before.

Comments

When asked about the best part of the day, Kim told us:

Seeing my granddad on the day of our wedding was a huge surprise. He’s 93 and hasn’t been out of his house in four years. We never expected him to be able to come to our wedding – but to have him there meant the world to me.

We also asked Kim if there was anything she had learnt that she thought was an important tip for future wedding couples?

Capture every moment. My only regret is that we didn’t get a photo or video of the confetti cannons that were let off at the end of the night.
